我收到了一个M.A.R. from the Yale University Divinity School and my Ph.D. in Theology from the University of Notre Dame. My dissertation examined Thomas Aquinas's Commentary on the Psalms and was published by the University of Notre Dame Press as Thomas Aquinas As Reader of the Psalms. I held my first teaching position from August 1997-July 2007 at St. Thomas University in Miami Gardens, Fla. where I was Chair of the Department of Religious Studies and taught in the Institute for Pastoral Ministries. 虽然, I developed a program that allowed undergraduates to complete their Religious Studies degree online.

2007年8月, I moved to 新奥尔良 to take the position of Director of the 洛约拉事工学院 (LIM). I was recently appointed Loyola's Interim Vice President for Mission and 身份. I continue to serve this year as 神学及事工教授 in LIM and the Associate Dean of the College in which LIM is located--the 护理与健康学院, which contains the School of 护理, 心理咨询系, and the 洛约拉事工学院. The College's tagline is "Health in mind, body, and spirit."  

I have taught a range of courses including Introduction to Practical Theology; Grace Christ and Spirit; Church, Sacraments and Liturgy; our introductory Bible courses, and the Spirituality for Ministers focus area. I have also taught Pastoral and 教育al Praxis 和一个n online course entitled Invitation to the Catechism that examined the spirituality of The Catechism of the Catholic Church. I developed many of the courses for our BA in 部 and Theology, including a course I taught in Spring 2021 called Bibiical Apocalyptic, 先知, 与智慧文学. 

My research interests include the history of biblical interpretation with a focus on medieval exegesis, 灵性的历史, 信仰和流行文化. In addition to work on Aquinas's biblical commentaries, I have written on the spirituality of medieval interpretations of the Song of Songs, the material spirituality of paint-by-numbers Last Suppers, 卡特里娜飓风后的新奥尔良, and the medieval Feast of Corpus Christi as an expression of the 感觉fidelium. I am co-editor of the series "The Bible in Medieval Tradition" published by Eerdmans. In the Romans volume, I was responsible for translating selections from Thomas Aquinas's 罗马书注释. That volume won first place from the Catholic Press Association in the Scripture--Academic Studies division.  I wrote the Year A (2022-2023) "Understanding the Word" portion of World 图书馆 Publication's Living the Word: Scripture Reflections and Commentaries for Sundays and Holy Days. I am currently writing the first half of Year B (2023-2034). 以我作为主任的身份, I wrote and presented on spirituality, 信仰与大众文化, and Pope Francis--and their transformative implications for today.  

我是新奥尔良人. I attended and later taught at Jesuit High School here in town. I also lived in the Catholic Worker community in New York City for two years. I am married with three daughters and love the rich religious, 文化, and environmental heritage of south Louisiana.
